Through being a finalist of the 2016 Dorset Business Award ‘Engagement with Education’ which was sponsored by Voip Unlimited, a fantastic relationship has flourished with The Honest Agency who created ‘Atom Club’ and the Internet Telephony Service Providers based in Poole. The Atom Club is centered around making a real difference for educating STEM industry subjects in a fun and interactive way. The Dorset Science & Technology Centre is their new hub, boasting the start of a technology zone, green screen studio, 3D planetarium & dinosaur zone.
Mark Pillow, MD of Voip Unlimited said: “More sophisticated equipment to propel a Science Centre into the spotlight can often only be a luxury for established centres, so we were delighted to donate a MEADE Telescope to a centre which in such a great dark sky location can really make the most of. The vision Chris from Atom Club has is phenomenal and the least we can do is help support those who could really shift the future of the STEM industry.”
Chris Ryu, Founder of Atom Club, said of the sponsorship: “The team at Voip Unlimited have been supportive of our initiative from the very start, sharing our vision to promote the STEM subject to children across North Dorset. We’re currently planning our first astronomy evening and the telescope they’ve donated will give the children a much better look at the night sky. The hugely generous £5,000 donation will be used to finish some of our most exciting exhibits and open the remaining two zones.”
